We are about to start one of the major weeks in the Christian calendar and we would love you to join us.

April 13th is Palm Sunday when we remember how Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and was welcomed by crowds waving palm branches in celebration.
Our Palm Sunday service at 10:30am will be led by Mr Andrew Maxwell.

This marks the start of Holy Week, the week between Palm Sunday and Easter Day. It included the death and resurrection of Jesus and this is why it is so special to Christians.

We are holding Easter Quest on Wednesday afternoon between 4 and 6pm. This is an afternoon of family fun. Please come along on the 16th for games, craft activities and food.

The next day is Maundy Thursday. This marks the night of the last supper that Jesus had with his disciples. Jesus blessed bread and wine which he shared with his disciples before washing their feet as an act of kindness and service.
The word Maundy comes from the Latin, mandatum meaning command, and it refers to the instructions Jesus gave his disciples at the Last Supper. Jesus told his disciples to share bread and wine together after his death. We do this when we celebrate what we call Holy Communion, a special service where we share bread and wine together.
The Monarch is the head of the Church of England and they give out special maundy money each year to thank local people for their work as Christians. This year the special service is at Durham Cathedral and the King will be giving maundy money to 76 men and 76 women because he is 76 years old.

Good Friday is the day Jesus was tried by Pilate and sentenced to death. He was forced to carry the cross on which he was crucified to a hill called Golgotha outside Jerusalem where he was nailed to that cross between two criminals who were also being crucified. That is why you can see three empty crosses on the Church Green during Holy Week.
You can be part of the crowd when these events are re-enacted in the centre of Gloucester. The play starts at 10:30am at Gloucester Cathedral and then moves around the city centre.
We remember the events of Good Friday with a service at 7:00pm at our church – please come along to remember what happened to Jesus.

Easter Sunday is a celebration of new life because it commemorates the day that Jesus rose from the dead and showed how love can overcome death. We start our celebration with a breakfast at church at 9:00am – all welcome.
Our Easter morning service at 10:30am is a celebration of new life and includes Holy communion where we share bread and wine together. It will be led by our Minister Rev. John McNeill.
