Church Walking Group

The Walking Group continues to meet on the first Saturday of the month, at 10.00am in the Church car park. Our numbers have increased over the past 12 months, and it is good to have a larger of people enjoying the outside environment of meadows, woods, hills, valleys, meandering streams and deeper fast flowing rivers.

We started 2016 off with our annual New Year's Day walk around the Birdlip/Brimpsfield area, but with a rather wet start to the year had to cancel a couple of our planned walks. However, we did make the annual Bluebell Walk on May Hill, with lovely home-made teas at the Methodist Church Hall, Eastington Canal Towpath was a revelation with so much birdlife to see along with many other points of interest, much enjoyed by all. My Grandson, Mikey, who joined us for the first time was very impressed with our walk around Woodchester Mansion in July, again this was somewhere we will be exploring again on a future walk. Marion and Len kindly led our walk to Sheepscombe, and we did make a visit to Bourton on the Water on a very wet day in September. Batsford Arboretum was also much enjoyed by all and we finished the year in December with our annual pilgrimage to Prinknash Abbey and lunch.

We hope the walking group can continue for many years to come, with perhaps a little help from those who walk with us introducing and leading new walks.

God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. Genesis 1:31
