We started 2019 with a good turnout of walkers – 18 – for our annual New Year’s Day walk, to Cowley Manor. Over the year we managed walks to Newent, Kings Stanley, Witcombe Roman Villa, Painswick, Apperley, Frampton on Seven, our usual pilgrimage around May Hill in May to see the beautiful bluebell display, ably led as ever by the legend (of May Hill), Roger Cox. Although the May Hill Methodist Church is now closed, we are hoping Roger will lead our walk again in May 2020. In December we walked from Church to Prinknash Abbey, which is now a regular feature in the Walking Group calendar.
We have maintained a good number of walkers throughout the year, which is great. We are fortunate to live in a lovely part of the country, with the Cotswolds on our doorstep. It’s good too to sample the lunches provided by our local Cotswolds pubs. My thanks to Marion, Elaine and Ron for leading some of our walks, and to Andrea for helping with some of the rekki’s.
We meet on the first Saturday of the month at 10.00am, if you do not have a car or don't drive, do come along as we do car-share. We continue to have a pub lunch included in the walk and do not 'march along', but stop, look and listen and take in the beautiful countryside which surrounds us - God is certainly a wonderful creator!!
